There are several ways that you can become part of our family: 

• Pray for us.

• Become an assistant at one of our homes.

• Become a volunteer.

• Help support us by contributing toward fulfilling our wish list or financially, directly or through the DonorEdge web site.

• If you live in the Kansas City area, join our Board of Directors.

Become an Assistant The life of an assistant is rewarding but it is also a lot of hard work. It is a life of responsibility, as well. Some of our core members require help with even the most basic of everyday tasks. The life of an assistant is not a life of "doing for" but, rather, a life that is shared with our core members; we enter into their lives and they enter into ours. We have live-in and relief/part time opportunities available. Some specialized training is required (and is provided by L'Arche) along with basic life skills--driving, shopping, housecleaning, etc. Most important, though, is a compassionate heart and a willingness to serve others.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have volunteer opportunities available at all of our homes. These opportunities provide interaction with our core members and can be scheduled to meet your availability. Typical volunteer activities include preparing and sharing meals, crafts, outings with core members and L'Arche assistants, etc.

Join Our Board of Directors

The L'Arche Heartland Board of Directors is a volunteer board providing community governance.
The board meets monthly, serves on committees, helps organize our annual fundraiser, and participates in a monthly community night pot luck dinner.

Pray for Us

We believe that the work of L'Arche is a ministry created and maintained through the grace of God. As such, your prayers are important. If you would like to become one of our prayer partners you can do so by praying for the Heartland community at large or by choosing a specific home.
