Our Stories: Katie's Art

Katie has been a part of the L’Arche Academy and Green Express Studio program for 7 years. 

Katie enjoys coloring with sharpies and markers, doing word searches, making cards for her friends, going on vacations with her family, and keeping up with friends by phone and email.  She really likes having a routine, drinking water and pop, and having a pastry for a treat at the Farmer’s Market.  At L’Arche she enjoys volunteering for Meals on Wheels, cleaning toys for Growing Futures, and helping with recycling. 

Katie lives with her mom and dad.  She has one brother, one sister, 2 nephews and 1 niece.  She loves her room and her I-Pad.  Her favorite shows are General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and the Young and the Restless.  She uses Disney plus for movies and television.  On the weekends she likes to watch Sesame Street and scary movies.  Someday she would like to go to Disneyland, Hollywood, and Port Charles.   

Katie describes her artistic style be saying she just picks a color and does it.  She likes flowers, rainbows, and people as subjects.  When she paints flowers she likes to start with the flower and then add the background last.  She enjoys doing artwork and cards for special occasions.
